Previously known as BBox, Cherbox provides an efficient and secure means of managing passwords, desktop icons, programs, files, folders, URLs, and more. All this password management functionality is offered by the developer, Bainsoft, for the great price of free.

Cherbox is available as a desktop and a portable version. To run Cherbox on your PC, it must be powered by Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, or 7 – these are the operating systems the application is compatible with at the time of writing this. The developer recommends you have at least 64MB of free RAM memory and 6MB of free disk space on your hard drive to run Cherbox.

The application's interface is divided into two panes. The pane to the left presents a list of nodes and text notes; select a node and all its entries will be displayed in the pane to the right. Above these two panes there’s a bar with buttons for adding nodes, deleting notes, adding entries, opening entries, closing the application, and more. You will quickly figure out the interface and you will have no problems navigating it.

As mentioned above, Cherbox is a free password manager. To get a better idea of what sort of functionality you can expect to get from the application, here’s a quick look at its main features: password protect access to the application, easily create nodes and add entries, securely store passwords, quickly launch applications/files/URLs, create passwords with the built-in password generator, back up your data, set up reminders, type in notes, capture URLs.

You don’t have to part with your money to access all the functionality Cherbox has to offer – the application is free. But if you enjoy using it, consider making a donation.

The nice interface, the ease of use, the lack of a price tag, and the powerful functionality make Cherbox a must-have password manager.

Pros

Cherbox is available as a desktop and a portable version. You will quickly get accustomed to the interface. Easily create nodes and add entries. Cherbox has a lot of features to offer. The application is free (consider making a donation).

Cons

None that I could think of.
